Simon started karate in 1979 at the Moulsham Youth Club Chelmsford,Some years later joining the Chelmsford KUGB run By Charles Naylor. Through this period he trained under Eneoda, Sherry,O'Neill,Poynton,Higgins,Rhodes & Brennan and being inspired by club seniors such as the Turner brothers & Mick Powell, Simon modelled his karate on Andy Sherry's dynamic style & Frank Brennan's flexibility.Dot Naylor played a major part inspiring Simon's karate spirit. He was a finalist in both Kata and Kumite in the mid 1980s winning the Chelmsford Cup in 1989 black belt section. Teaching for KUGB Chelmsford during the summer holidays from 1987 with Mary.


In the early 1990s Simon joined various EKC/EKGB associations whilst developing his Karate. Competing in many TKA competitions earning titles in the senior Dan grade kata division over the years from National to International level.In 1999 Simon along side Bill Gow & Troy came 3rd in the English International Karate Opens team kata (Vic Charles) ,TKA Funakoshi Cup 1st place kata senior black belts. Simon has taught the TKA Kata squad in 2010 &continues to competes in the 35+ Kata division (Veterans).

Simon's style is inspired by Sports Kata Karate, developing spirited,dynamic and practical  performances.


Simon is an International Instructor & Competitor.
